Career Decisions to Make?

It happened in a potato patch. I'd been hoeing and thinking. I was eighteen and had to make a hard decision. A Navy recruiter had visited me not long before, painting an appealing picture of life in the Navy. And I had to decide then, because within a month or two I was scheduled to be drafted into the Army.

I had asked friends and relatives what they thought. Some said, "Do this," some said, "Do that," and some said, "It's your decision." As I hoed, I thought, weighing advantages and disadvantages of each course of action. And the more I considered, the more confused I became.

Then the thought came, Why not ask God? For several years I had been studying Christian Science and had had physical healings, but I had never applied this Science to making a decision. How do you ask God, anyway? I wondered. What words do you use? How will I know when He answers? What difference would it make to God whether I went into the Army or the Navy?
