God's Law of Universal Harmony
In answer to the question "How would you define Christian Science?" Mrs. Eddy gives this illuminating reply: "As the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony." Rudimental Divine Science, p. 1;
What is this law of God, or good? And what are its demands upon us for the fulfillment of its promise? How do we demonstrate, or put into practice, this law of universal goodness?
A familiar Bible story tells of a lawyer who challenged Jesus by asking, "Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" This lawyer was a man skilled in the interpretation of Mosaic law. Was he merely testing Jesus' understanding of, and obedience to, traditional Jewish doctrine? Or was he truly seeking the answer as to how mankind, through the teachings of Christ Jesus, might demonstrate that condition of immortality and goodness described in the Scriptures as "eternal life" or the "kingdom of heaven"?
