Why Pay the Practitioner?
Often a newcomer to Christian Science, and sometimes one not so new, asks "Is it right to pay for prayer?" and "What if the patient is too poor to pay?"
Such questions come with special force in areas where traditional religious customs require only a passive role on the part of the individual—where the religious work, including prayer, is done mainly by devotees supported by temple, shrine, church funds, or taxation.
Both practical and spiritual considerations are involved in the answer.
