To Overcome the Challenges of Age

Can anything be done to overcome the challenges of age? Can its limitations be lifted? A statement by Zophar in the book of Job indicates they can: "Thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning."^{Job 11:17;}

To master the challenges associated with age, we need to understand in some measure the basic spiritual facts of God and man. In conformity with the Bible, Christian Science teaches that God is infinite, eternal Life, independent of time. Life, God, knows nothing about time and hence nothing about age.

Man—the real man, the true identity of each one of us—is made in the image of God. Because man is the expression of eternal, never-beginning, never-ending Life, he is ageless, timeless, undying. The great fact of his eternal being cannot be discerned by the material senses, but is clearly apparent to spiritual sense, with which God endows all His children. Christ Jesus' words and works show clearly that life is eternal. The Master declared that we attain it through following the truths he taught. He said, "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."^{John 17:3;}
