SAFETY

Maxine Le Pelley

First, wise as a serpent.
Then harmless as dove.
Letter and spirit.
Wisdom and love.
Christ Jesus was harmless.
His healing grace
could only save
in every case.
And Jesus was wise.
He passed unseen
through angry mob.
The one who deemed
Herod a fox
walked not in dreamy paradox.
That wisdom of God
is ours to know. In safety then
we go.
