Specific Treatment
Quick and decisive healing is the rule when the truths of Christian Science are applied specifically. But human thought seems to prefer to think of the broad, universal truths of God and man and to be inspired by them without making the effort to realize their application to the manifested errors that claim to deny these truths.
Healing comes as a result of understanding and expressing the allness and goodness of God and the perfection of God's reflection, man. But unless these truths are seen to apply specifically to the situation at hand, they are not fully understood or expressed, and the healing work the situation calls for may not be getting done.
When Christ Jesus healed a man who was deaf and dumb, the only recorded words were "Be opened." Mark 7:34; When they brought to him a young man who was having terrible seizures, Mark records that "he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him." There followed such a display of resistance that the boy appeared to be dead. "But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose." 9:25, 27;
