You Can Find an Identity—and More
Identity Crisis?
Friends called it an identity crisis. No one seemed much worried, though. In fact, most people didn't even know anything was wrong. A fine lot of help this was!
Looking for sympathy only made things worse. One minute I was told to go to a psychiatrist. Then someone else would say, "Don't worry—it's normal. Everyone goes through it."
I was supposed to relax, "just be myself." Myself? This was the whole problem! Who was I? I wondered. What was my purpose in life? Where was I going?
