Although I have been a student of Christian Science for only six years, I have experienced dramatic proof of the healing power of God through Christian Science. I was healed of alcoholism and smoking as a result of the prayerful work of an experienced Christian Scientist shortly after I began the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon. During this period, without any specific prayerful work being done, I was also healed of chronic colds, attacks of flu, periodic cramps, constipation, backaches, fear of thunderstorms, nail-biting, fatigue, impatience, and intemperate language.

Then I experienced what Mrs. Eddy describes on page 559 of Science and Health. She writes: "Take divine Science. Read this book from beginning to end. Study it, ponder it. It will be indeed sweet at its first taste, when it heals you; but murmur not over Truth, if you find its digestion bitter." There were many undesirable character traits that needed to be brought to the surface and eradicated. There have been many victories too. The process is still going on.

I am deeply grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, for having had the opportunity to attend the Annual Meeting in Boston, and, most of all, for class instruction, a priceless experience.
