Cease Sinning
The nature of sin is to deceive. It wears a charming and deceptive mask. It is up to us to remove the mask from sin, which often disguises itself as normal, acceptable, or perhaps justifiable Self-justification is one of the prime supports of sin. When we stop justifying ourselves in sin, then, and only then, are we ready for progress.
Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health: "The way to escape the misery of sin is to cease sinning. There is no other way." Science and Health, p. 327
When the adulterous woman was brought to Christ Jesus, he forgave her, but said, "Go, and sin no more." John 8:11 To suppose sin forgiven when not forsaken is the foolish deceit of mortal mind. In Science and Health we read, "Sin is forgiven only as it is destroyed by Christ—Truth and Life." Science and Health, p. 5
