Consistent Dominion
Every thoughtful person loves good and would like to express fine qualities consistently as he goes about his daily activities. Why, then, does he sometimes fail? What goes wrong?
There are two distinct yet interwoven reasons why his hopes are dashed to the ground. To begin with, although he has risen from bed and prepared to meet the day, he may still be unawakened to his real being. Secondly, he does not detect and correct erroneous thoughts as soon as they present themselves for acceptance.
What is man's true being? It is the individual reflection of Soul, God, and is perfectly controlled by God, calm, sinless, and radiant. It cannot be out of order. Because divine Mind fully governs every situation, there can be no chaos for God's man, no confusion, no disorderly thought, no ungoverned growth or uncontrolled action. Accepting as true the spiritual account of creation recorded in the first thirty-four verses of the book of Genesis, that God made everything very good, including man in His own image and likeness, we can reject the material sense of man and the universe as not genuine because it does not resemble God, absolute good, infinite Spirit. Mrs. Eddy clarifies the real nature of man in her statement in Science and Health: "His birthright is dominion, not subjection. He is lord of the belief in earth and heaven,—himself subordinate alone to his Maker. This is the Science of being." Science and Health, p. 518;
