FAITH'S FULFILLMENT
Mark 12:43, 44
The heartfelt gift,
when given, is enough.
Two small mites, her living—
all she had.
What relief to turn from hardened thought
that buries all its talent in the earth—
the sorry dearth
of faithlessness—and then
behold, with Jesus, what this widow brought!
It lifted faith's inevitable tide
centuries wide
for all.
Once alone
there stood another widow with a gift
transforming, from the heart, her darkest woes
into a precious church—a prayer in stone,
a nucleus for Science and its peace.
This desert-blooming rose shall never cease.
The dome of righteousness, the tower of praise,
the love-reflecting pool, the faithful past
made present with our gifts, secure and fast
upon the Christly rock of "greater works,"
shall appear in structure and accord
exultant in the labor of the Lord.
