RADIO PROGRAM NO. 399 - Taking Time for Gratitude

[The speaker is Harvey Wood. The questioner is Robert McKinnon.]

Questioner: Most people would like to express more gratitude, to be more appreciative of what others do. But when it comes to taking time to be grateful, we rarely get around to putting thanks into words. Considering the pressure and pace of life today, I suppose there's really not a great deal that can be done about it.

Speaker: Certainly all of us want to see more warmth, appreciation, and genuine interest in others expressed by us and around us. Whether we're aware of it or not, all of us are capable of expressing gratitude. It's helpful to begin to see that it's more a question of desire than of time, because genuine gratitude comes from the heart. Gratitude is spontaneous, God-directed, a quality of Love that really touches and changes every aspect of our lives when we begin to give expression to it. It strengthens our character; it deepens our outreach; it blesses those that we come into contact with at home, work, or school. It gives us a more unlimited view of ourselves and others. The Bible makes a vital point on this subject. It says (I Thess. 5:18), "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
