Christian Science is a practical religion

Christian Science is a practical religion. The demonstration or proof of its divine teachings is possible for each one who makes an honest effort. This fact that Christian Science is scientifically demonstrable is one of its most important identifying features. It is perpetually wonderful to feel God's ever-presence, love, and care in everyday affairs.

Some time ago I was again able to experience this care of God tangibly. We read in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 188): "Mortal existence is a dream of pain and pleasure in matter, a dream of sin, sickness, and death," and (p. 244), "Man undergoing birth, maturity, and decay is like the beasts and vegetables,— subject to laws of decay."

From the time I was ten I had kept a diary. It had, as we say, become a quiet passion. Time and again I had sat for many hours, catching up with what had happened. Now I was about to start a new chapter, in which, so mortal mind wanted to make me believe, I wanted to set forth my further development. However, I progressed only haltingly because I was not altogether happy about keeping a diary. Increasingly unpleasant pictures of the past troubled me. Fear of all sorts of eventualities cropped up. That made me think some more. Should I stop or not?
