The Stimulus of Truth

Those who imagine that the practice of religion is on its way to oblivion simply have never encountered true religion. They have failed to realize that through the study and application of scientific Christianity the stimulus of Truth may be actually seen and felt in better health, happiness, and ability.

The understanding that God is Love, ever-present divine Mind, and that man is His perfect spiritual idea, can lift thought out of doubt and depression. It can impart the joyous certainty that harmony is the natural order of things, and that discord and disease are powerless to oppose the omnipotence of Truth. Mrs. Eddy writes: "The fact that Truth overcomes both disease and sin reassures depressed hope. It imparts a healthy stimulus to the body, and regulates the system. It increases or diminishes the action, as the case may require, better than any drug, alterative, or tonic."^{Science and Health, p. 420;}

Christian Science reveals the innate vitality of spiritualized consciousness. It shows its students how to reach out mentally to God and actually feel the strength! and inspiration of His all-inclusive presence. The divine Mind is seen to be the very consciousness of man—his Life, substance, will, and volition—and this sense of unity with the creative Principle awakens thought and spurs it on to greater spiritual endeavor.
