Having received considerable help and inspiration from testimonies published in our periodicals over many years, I feel that my own expression of gratitude is long overdue.

About ten years ago a rheumatic condition developed and eventually affected the joints of my body, making any kind of physical movement very painful. I prayed to God for guidance in this problem and was led to telephone a Christian Science practitioner, who did not know me. She kindly agreed to give me Christian Science treatment and suggested that I study the definition of "oil" given on page 592 of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, with particular reference to the word "gentleness." The definition reads, "Consecration; charity; gentleness; prayer; heavenly inspiration." I knew immediately that this was the answer to the problem.

During the following week or two I gratefully enjoyed earnest Study of the references to "oil" contained in the Bible and the textbook. I endeavored to see that man, made in the image and likeness of God, as stated in the book of Genesis, could not express a hard and critical thought. So overjoyed was I with this absorbing study that the pain completely vanished, and a permanent healing resulted.
