RADIO PROGRAM NO. 398 - Helping Keep Children Safe

[The speaker is Michael Thorneloe. The questioner is Ron Clifford.]

Questioner: Parents are naturally concerned about the safety of their children, especially younger children. I'm sure we all caution our children about such a thing as crossing a street, and we try to give them guidelines to protect them from harm and accidents. But for many parents, when children are out of sight even for a short time, fear is present, many times excessive fear.

Speaker: This is certainly something I've had to face up to, as, I'm sure, many of us have. I've found that the best way I can help my children feel safe is first to get myself in hand, to become more aware myself of where safety comes from. When both parent and child are aware that there is a divine source for safety, that "safety is of the Lord," as the Bible brings out (Prov. 21:31), they have a basis for facing up to these fears and concerns.
