I am fourteen years old

I am fourteen years old. I was born and raised in Christian Science. I would like to share an experience I had two summers ago.

I was on a high school baseball team. One night while playing in a baseball game, I was struck in the face with a hard ball. The coach took me off the field and laid me on the ground. He thought that perhaps I might have a broken nose. Right away I started to declare the truth to myself as we are taught in Christian Science, I knew that I was a child of God and that I could not be hurt. They wanted to take me to a doctor, but I thanked them and told them I would wait for my mom and dad to get there. When my parents got there, my mom thanked the coach for his concern, and they took me home.

This happened around seven thirty in the evening. When we arrived home, my mother took out our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. She read to me what Mrs. Eddy says on page 390: "We cannot deny that Life is self-sustained, and we should never deny the everlasting harmony of Soul, simply because, to the mortal senses, there is seeming discord. It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony. Truth will at length compel us all to exchange the pleasures and pains of sense for the joys of Soul."
