Our Vital Role as Peacemakers
There is a challenging, joyful call to duty for each Christian in this prophecy of Christ Jesus: "Ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass. ... He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." Matt. 24:6–13;
How can we "be not troubled" by the false evidence of discord and turmoil so prevalent in the world today? We can play an important part in shortening the days of universal unrest by prayerfully recognizing the absolute, undisputed sovereignty of divine Mind. The rule of unchangeable Truth is one of justice and harmony, and a knowledge of this fact brings evil to its inevitable end, nothingness.
The answer to the claims of injustice and friction is to be found not so much in strong political feelings as in calmly turning to God as the unopposed, creative, governing power of the universe. Our spiritually enlightened prayers are indispensable to world peace, but no element of emotionalism, physicality, or anxiety should be allowed to diminish their effectiveness.
