I should like to express my gratitude for Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and for Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. This healing religion has brought much happiness into my life.
In Miscellaneous Writings Mrs. Eddy requests that we pray daily for ourselves. Then she says (p. 127), "When a hungry heart petitions the divine Father-Mother God for bread, it is not given a stone,—but more grace, obedience, and love." As I was carrying out this request for daily prayer and pondering the above statement, the word "petitions" stood out to me. I thought of how Christ Jesus petitioned for himself, "And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was" (John 17:5). I saw that Mrs. Eddy's poem may be regarded as a prayer in which she petitions for herself (Poems p. 14),
