The Main Purpose of Christian Science
Many believe that the main purpose of Christian Science is to heal disease and make mortals more comfortable in their material bodies. This is not true.
Mrs. Eddy states: "Healing physical sickness is the smallest part of Christian Science. It is only the bugle-call to thought and action, in the higher range of infinite goodness. The emphatic purpose of Christian Science is the healing of sin." Rudimental Divine Science, p. 2; Quick and thorough physical healing is highly important, but only as a "bugle-call" to summon one to higher demonstration of Truth and to attract others who are prepared and spiritually receptive to seek the Christ Science. Probably the great majority of converts to Christian Science were led to make an honest, sincere investigation of it because they, or someone dear to them, had experienced bodily healing of some sort.
