Understanding God as Soul

In reality everyone has grand capacities for expressing his complete identity. It is just as important to enlarge our understanding and expression of God as Soul as it is to enlarge our understanding and expression of Him as Principle, Mind, Spirit, Life, Truth, and Love. These synonyms for God are given in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

Because these terms are synonymous we may say that Soul's expression is eternally law-abiding, intelligent, unlimited, alive, truthful, and loving. Because God is Soul, He is the source of such qualities as happiness, beauty, intuition, individuality. And each one of us can recognize and claim these reflected qualities as our inheritance. In our study of God as Soul we see our own individuality as His expression or reflection, and then we find that our daily experience never lacks variety, beauty, or happiness.

Without an understanding of God as Soul we miss much of the color, rhythm, melody, and joy of daily living. We should know more of these qualities of Soul, of our need for them, and the source of them. And we must learn to express them in our lives. The lack of the expression of these qualities by mankind in education, in government, and in family life is much in evidence today.
