For many years before finding Christian Science, I was a medical...

For many years before finding Christian Science, I was a medical nurse. I started going to a Church of Christ, Scientist, since I was looking for relief from hay fever. I said that if I was healed of it, I knew it would be right for me to follow Christian Science. Each year the hay fever returned. I was helped through Science, but the fever always returned. Mortal mind said, "Why don't you quit going to church?" However, I had been healed of many other ailments: my sense of well-being was much better, and I had experienced wonderful protection. I could not stop the study of Christian Science.

But I had not found the right way to leave the medical nursing profession. I gave medicine under orders just as a soldier fights under orders. He may not believe in war, but he goes into battle under orders; so that was the way I gave medicine and performed my other duties on the job.

Through God's love and the prayerful work of a practitioner I was finally freed from false professional responsibilities and from discordant family relationships. I then turned again to God, and through the untiring prayers of the practitioner I was led out of medicine in ways far beyond my greatest expectations. I was given the opportunity to go to Boston to work at the Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association until the requirements for nurses training could be fulfilled.
