The words in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon in the CHRISTIAN SCIENCE QUARTERLY designated to be read in Christian Science churches on December 3, 1967.

Neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him (Isa. 64:4)

In this verse the construction of the original is very condensed, allowing various possible renderings. Smith suggests: "No eye has seen A god apart from thee, who works for those who wait for him"; and Moffatt: "No eye has ever seen...the mighty deeds that thou wilt do for those who look to thee."
