With a heart full of gratitude for Christian Science I wish to testify to the joy, healing, satisfaction, and confidence which its study and practice have given me during the past forty-five years.

I was brought up by God-fearing parents; but as I grew older, I found myself imprisoned, fettered, and confused by old theology that repeatedly disappointed me because it offered no solution to my difficulties and, above all, no satisfying answer as to how to pray. The question of adequate prayer had always baffled me, even as a child, because it appeared that, although Jesus had admonished us to pray and had said (Matt. 7:7), "Knock, and it shall be opened unto you," prayer was, in fact, unanswered.

But when I was introduced to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I quickly saw the difference between pleading with God for human needs and affirming the truths that God supplies all and that His affluence is ever available. Gradually fears and anxieties associated with the bringing up of children began to grow less, and my confidence and assurance that God is ever present gave me a freedom before unknown.
