Morals and Health

There are reasons for obeying the Ten Commandments, and they go deeper than human opinions. These commandments represent divine laws, which cannot be broken because they are forces of divine Mind, or God, and are perpetually enforced by Mind.

Christ Jesus had a great deal to say about God's law, and it is obvious that his dominion over evil, disease, and material laws was the effect of his obedience to the divine will, which is absolute law. One reason he could express such dominion was that he was actually conscious of the realm of Spirit, God; and in this realm, which he called heaven, divine law is in full control forever.

Instead of discarding the Ten Commandments as outmoded and irrelevant to his age, Jesus fulfilled them in the spirit of love they embody. This fulfilling brought heaven to earth. Christian Science shows that we are right in heaven in the measure that we are obedient to divine law. We need not die to attain God's kingdom; we need only obey the Father's will. The Master was outlining the way in which heaven would eventually outshine the human realm, when he taught his followers to pray: "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." Matt. 6:10;
