Christian Science came into our family through the healing of...
Christian Science came into our family through the healing of my mother of a nervous breakdown when I was a child. I was enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School and attended regularly until I went to college. Then I began to drift away from Science. Although I continued to attend church services more or less regularly, I was not studying Science or living the kind of life conducive to spiritual progress.
After many years of this kind of drifting, I reached the point where a decision had to be made between Christian Science and medical aid to solve a sinus condition that had become increasingly painful and acute. I made an appointment with a Christian Science practitioner, and after one or two treatments I was permanently healed. This was about twenty-five years ago.
Of even greater importance than the physical healing was regeneration of character. The smoking habit disappeared overnight, and social drinking very soon afterward. Along with these welcome changes came a genuine desire to take up the serious study of Christian Science—to learn more of this marvelous truth.
