Several years ago during a very busy time, my husband was doing some work on an airplane on his day off from his regular employment. Some friends and I drove out to where he was working. As we were leaving, he asked me to do some work for him in Christian Science, because he had a headache and still had work to finish.
We drove home and I thought, "What truth can I know that will help him?" Then I remembered that he had held to a belief that if he slept later than usual, as he had done that morning, a sick headache resulted. I knew that this is a false law, that God does not make such a law, and that man cannot be mesmerized into believing in a power apart from God, for God is all power, and man is His image and likeness.
I opened the textbook, Science and Health, to page 384 and read, "We should relieve our minds from the depressing thought that we have transgressed a material law and must of necessity pay the penalty." These words written by Mrs. Eddy stood out so forcibly that I was convinced man could not suffer from a mortal mind law. This was so clear that no further work seemed necessary; and when my husband came home, he was free of the headache.
