Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray (Ps. 55:17)
The times of prayer here mentioned appear to correspond to the official hours established by the Jews for sacrifice in the Temple at Jerusalem; the order commencing with the evening sacrifice, because the Jewish Sabbath began at sunset. As Genesis reminds us (1:5), "The evening and the morning were the first day."
Prove thy servants . . . and let them give us pulse to eat (Dan. 1:12)
