One day a friend handed me a box labeled, "The medicine to be taken three times a day." The contents were some seeds for my garden! But the medicine label sent my thoughts back about nine years, and I visualized a bedroom cabinet containing about thirty packages of powders and pills, as well as bottles of medicine, lotions, and so on, all waiting to be swallowed, gargled, rubbed in, or sniffed. No wonder my brother smilingly called me "Mrs. Apothecary"! But at that time it was rather the reverse of amusement to me, so you can imagine my joy when I found and read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and was completely healed of neuralgia, migraine, and rheumatism. The medicines were all dumped into the dustbin.

However, a test came soon after. I had suffered all my life from a bowel condition, but I was now so thoroughly convinced of the truths I had been reading in Science and Health that I felt not the least temptation to resort to medicine again, even though the condition lasted over a week before being healed. It has never returned.

After this healing of physical ailments, I had a great desire to give up smoking, so I approached my next door neighbor, a Christian Science practitioner and friend. I explained my difficulty to her, and a few days later I lost all desire to smoke. It was a miracle to me, because previous to knowing of Christian Science I had tried many times to break the habit, but without success.
