RADIO PROGRAM NO. 217 - "Safety is of the Lord"

Questioner: Most people would like to have a more dependable basis for safety. But I believe many people think of safety largely in terms of luck or chance, avoiding danger, not being in harm's way. What are your views on this? Speaker: I think the true basis of safety, the dependable basis, is living in accord with God; that is, acknowledging God's love, His care, and His protecting power as brought out in the Bible.

The supreme example of this was Christ Jesus, who linked safety to obedience to God. He said, "If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments" (Matt. 19:17).

And in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 387), "The history of Christianity furnishes sublime proofs of the supporting influence and protecting power bestowed on man by his heavenly Father, omnipotent Mind, who gives man faith and understanding whereby to defend himself, not only from temptation, but from bodily suffering."
