The Spirit of Meekness

The spirit of meekness is essential to Christian living based upon the understanding and demonstration of man's relation to his Maker. Without this spirit one cannot realize the way of Life and Love as revealed and exemplified in the healing ministry and life of Christ Jesus. He knew his real being as the Son of his heavenly Father and early recognized his Christ-mission, ordained of God, to enlighten and redeem mankind from the error of earthly origin. He humbly acknowledged, "I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but' the will of the Father which hath sent me." John 5:30:

Through reflecting the divine nature, the Christ, Jesus was endowed with spiritual power to cast out material beliefs in sin, sickness, and death from the minds of those who came to him for healing and to lift men to the perception of their eternal birthright of dominion derived from God, the Father of all. He became in very deed the Messiah, divinely appointed to be the demonstrator of eternal Life to all mankind. To be master of the flesh and its binding beliefs, he must first become the humble and obedient servant of God, Spirit. Thus it is written of him in Hebrews, "Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered." Hebr. 5:8:

In Psalms the spirit of meekness is enjoined upon all who would prosper and be preserved from their enemies, the mortal illusions of sense accruing from the belief of man as born of fleshly parentage: "For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be. . . . But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace." Ps. 37:10, 11:
