Yielding to God's Will

All Christians pray, "Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven," Matt. 6:10; even though the spiritual import of these words may not be fully realized. Mrs. Eddy gives the spiritual interpretation of these words as follows: "Enable us to know,—as in heaven, so on earth,—God is omnipotent, supreme." Science and Health, p. 17;

Christian Science teaches that God is ever-present and omnipotent good, forever governing and protecting His beloved children. Therefore His will can be only good; and this can be proved right now in our human experience. If God is supreme and His will is good, does not this mean that good is constantly enforced? It is our knowledge and acceptance of these spiritual facts that protect us from the claims of evil, or error.

Now an error is just a mistake. It is the opposite of good, having no value or power, but it must be recognized as a counterfeit. Just so, human will must be recognized as the counterfeit of the divine will. Mrs. Eddy's definition of "will" is very illuminating. It begins: "The motive-power of error; mortal belief; animal power. The might and wisdom of God." p. 597;
