"Choose good as the reality"
In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy says: "If sin, sickness, and death were understood as nothingness, they would disappear. As vapor melts before the sun, so evil would vanish before the reality of good. One must hide the other. How important, then, to choose good as the reality!" Science and Health, pp. 480, 481;
Sometimes when error seems suddenly to enter through some door of consciousness in an unexpected way, a person is not awake to the fact that one may make a choice. If he is alert, however, one will, at such a moment, "choose good as the reality."
Even under severe circumstances, we should make an effort to choose wisely. Rather than take into thought destructive pictures that increase fear, we should handle these suggestions scientifically and reverse them right at that moment. It is not so much what happens but our reaction to what happens that makes things hard or easy for us. If our thought turns toward material unpredictability, it is turning away from spiritual stability.
