[Of special interest to young men and women]
On a street I sometimes take when driving to work in the morning, there is a spacious lawn in front of one home, with four trees planted at regular intervals. One day I noticed that three of the trees had an abundance of shiny green leaves, but the fourth was bare of leaves and appeared to be entirely inactive. Later on I found myself thinking, "That little tree isn't doing as well as the others; I guess they'll have to replace it."
One morning in March, after several weeks had passed since I had driven that way, I saw to my delight that the little tree had literally burst into a mass of lovely pink blossoms. It had never been in competition with the other three trees, had never tried to be like them, but all the time it was actively being itself. It was obeying the laws which govern and determine the perfect unfolding and expression which were right for it.
According to the teachings of Christian Science, we are all in reality the expressions of God, divine Mind, Spirit, Soul. His purpose for each idea is distinct and individual. In our textbook, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy tells us, "The divine Mind maintains all identities, from a blade of grass to a star, as distinct and eternal." Science and Health, p. 70;
