"And that is true"

The exercises of a Christian Science Sunday School were ending; the superintendent was reading aloud "the scientific statement of being" by Mrs. Eddy. As she concluded with the sentences, "Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual," Science and Health, p. 468; a teacher heard a pupil say prayerfully, "And that is true."

This pupil was learning that God is Spirit and that Christian Science reveals the truth of God and of man in His likeness. She was learning that God is good, that He is to be loved and adored, that He is Love and loves His vast creation. She was also learning the value of declaring the truth to and for herself, thus reassuring herself of the divinity of Spirit and of man's spirituality.

The value of declaring the truth of God and of man and insisting that it is true is being proved daily by Christian Scientists; and healings of diseases, broken bones, bad habits, and false traits are evidences of the efficacy of their knowing and declaring spiritual truths prayerfully and persistently. The Scientist thus confirms Christ Jesus' promise, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32;
