"It is imperative to be honest"
To one who realizes that God is the all-knowing Mind, the ever-present intelligence, anything but the utmost candor in prayer becomes ridiculous. Nothing can be hidden from God, and no attempt should be made in prayer to conceal anything. Complete honesty is a basic requirement in demonstrating Christian Science.
The fundamental relationship between God and man is that of Mind and idea, God and His reflection. And a reflection must be true to its original. Whatever interferes with the integrity of this reflection is error, or evil, and error must be eliminated from our consciousness. To bring our thinking into accord with divine Principle is one of the main reasons for prayer.
From the symbolic beginning of evil, pictured as a snake talking to Eve, error has been characterized by subtlety and deceit. In fact, the whole realm of evil is one momentous deception. This includes sickness as well as sin. Not one of these errors is created by God; not one is included in the truth of being. And this is why an understanding of the truth and an honest application of it can overcome evil and meet the problems that arise in human experience.
