Perpetual Freshness

Christian Science stops the wilting of thought, so characteristic of humanity, by supplying spiritual energies that maintain perpetual freshness. Much as a gentle rain acts upon wilted plants, these energies act upon consciousness, refreshing it. To bring about a renewal of vitality and interest in spiritual living, we need to understand that God is one infinite Mind, as Science reveals, and that man is Mind's infinite idea, inseparable from Mind as its very expression. Divine Mind ever imparts freshness to its expression, and this makes its expression immortal.

When we turn to and become conscious of Mind's continuing impartation of faith and joy and love, staleness and inertia vanish. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy says, "Immortal Mind feeds the body with supernal freshness and fairness, supplying it with beautiful images of thought and destroying the woes of sense which each day brings to a nearer tomb." Science and Health, p. 248;

At Jacob's well Jesus spoke of "living water" John 4:10, 14, 24; to a Samaritan woman of whom he had requested a drink. He said, "Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." Jesus then instructed the woman in the true way of worshiping God as Spirit and of doing this "in spirit and in truth."
