My understanding of God and Christian Science has caused my cup to overflow with good, with gratitude, with joy, and with the constant evidence of God's love and tender care for His children.

I had had a condition of constipation from early childhood, and all the cures that I tried were of no avail. I was compelled to take medicine and pills every night, and most of the time I would double the dose. Finally, the doctor said that it was imperative to give me certain medical treatments, which are painful. When I heard this report, I became so fear-stricken that I refused to have the treatment. And so in my darkest hour and in deep despair, I turned to Christian Science and paid my first visit to a practitioner. Immediately after this visit I gave up all material aids, and the practitioner began to give me treatment.

I prayed to God for divine guidance. I began to study Christian Science diligently and earnestly and relied completely and wholeheartedly on God. I learned that He is the only physician.
