One evening while I was watching television, the symptoms of indigestion became so pronounced and painful that I went to my room to declare the truth of man. I prayerfully reasoned that as an idea of God man cannot experience any discordant condition and that man does express all the qualities of God, including health and harmony. After declaring and acknowledging these truths, I picked up a Sentinel and began reading in the middle of an article that dealt with resentment. Immediately I recalled that I had been resentful of the attitude of a friend. It become very clear to me that I could not see myself as God's perfect likeness and see my friend as less than perfect. I really love this friend, and I began to express more of this love by seeing all of God's qualities manifested in her. Even before the discomfort lessened I knew the problem had been solved. In a short time I returned to my family and the television, healed and happy.
This lesson is one I like to contemplate, for it proves that the Christ, Truth, is applicable in our daily experiences. As we look away from the human body and gain a higher sense of God and man, we can demonstrate the healing of which Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (Pref., p. xi), "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation."
I am humbly grateful to God for giving to the world the Christ, Truth, in Jesus' teachings and for Mrs. Eddy's tireless devotion in discovering and founding Christian Science and presenting it to us as a practical and demonstrable religion.
