For many years I had a desire for spiritual unfoldment and as a young girl had prayed that I might become a better Christian. After I was happily married and a mother, I was led to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist. Immediately I felt that Christian Science was what I had been praying for.
The first time I read a Lesson-Sermon, given in the Christian Science Quarterly, I found these verses included (Prov. 3:5, 6): "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." At that time there was a great need for healing and spiritual enlightenment, since my husband was operating a business which seemed to be greatly affected by the depression. I decided to go to work in the business to try to help him. My newfound spiritual understanding became a great joy in meeting the challenges of my daily work. In her answer to the question, "What is God?" on page 465 of Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy gives Principle as one of the synonyms for God. I reasoned that since God is Principle, and God is All and over all, our business was under the direction of divine Principle. Within a short time the business was on a firm basis and expanded.
Through the help of a practitioner, I have been healed of many physical difficulties, including chronic sick headaches. While I was on a trip, an attack was overcome when I realized that God is Spirit and that man as His idea is wholly spiritual and cannot experience pain. The headache vanished, and during the intervening twenty-five years the condition has not returned.
