Dr. Benjamin E. Mays, President Morehouse College, Atlanta University
as reported in The Ann Arbor News Ann Arbor, Michigan
Science has made the world a neighborhood, but science cannot make the world a brotherhood. President Benjamin E. Mays of Morehouse College, Atlanta, Ga., said here... Addressing the final general session of the...annual Michigan Pastors' Conference at the University, Mays described the predicament of man:
"We know more than we have ever known. We have more educated people than at any time in history. We have more people with college degrees and yet our humanity is a diseased humanity. ...There is so much distrust and ill will in the world that we are afraid to disarm." The Georgia educator said that not only war, but fear and suspicion among peoples, deeply rooted prejudice between races and cultures, and poverty and disease everywhere keep humanity from being whole.
