As a child I was not considered...
As a child I was not considered to be very strong or healthy. I was ill quite often, having all the so-called children's diseases plus frequent colds and other indispositions.
While I was away at school my mother was stricken with tuberculosis, and a year later my elder sister was also believed to be ill with this disease. My own health was watched closely as X rays showed that I too had some evidence of this condition.
It was during this time that the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, found its way into our home. An aunt presented a copy of this book to my mother, but we were all so opposed to what we believed Science to be that I do not think any of us looked into it.
