Prayer and Demonstration Are Inseparable
Christ Jesus , whose prayers to his Father, God, were answered, assures us that if we ask we too shall receive. His conviction that prayer is answered was based on his understanding of what constitutes true prayer.
His prayers were the clear recognition, followed by the demonstration, of what is true of God and His creation, including man. Through his prayers, the spiritual facts of the divine creation—perfection, harmony, and immortality—were demonstrated in the healing of the sick, the reformation of the sinner, the feeding of the multitudes, and the raising of the dead.
Christian Science explains and proves that when one beholds spiritual facts in divine Mind through scientific prayer, they become evident in one's human experience in the form of improved human conditions. In other words, they are demonstrated: prayer and demonstration are inseparable. Prayer does not add more perfection, harmony, and immortality to God's universe. But scientific prayer does bring out greater evidence of perfection, harmony, and immortality in our lives. The Psalmist prayed (Ps. 119:18), "Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law."
