"Whom the Lord loveth he correcteth"
Today , as always, disbelief in God and His government of man and the universe takes on many guises. One of these is the downgrading of standards of conduct which are clearly and simply stated in the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes. Mrs. Eddy's statement on page 303 of "Miscellaneous Writings' indicates the pressing need of living in accord with these divine rules, "If ever I wear out from serving students, it shall be in the effort to help them to obey the Ten Commandments and imbibe the spirit of Christ's Beatitudes."
One who knowingly or unknowingly submits to attitudes and practices contrary to the sound teachings of Christian Science sometimes finds himself unnecessarily involved in a struggle to demonstrate the healing power of Truth and Love—and at a most inopportune time. Through lack of alertness he has permitted himself to submit to the allurements of materialism, and in a degree he has forfeited the spiritual protection and guidance that he might otherwise have experienced.
