I wish to express my thanks for...

I wish to express my thanks for a beautiful healing I had sometime ago. I awakened during the night suffering severe pain in my back. My wife called a Christian Science practitioner; and when the practitioner heard that I could not walk, she told my wife to have me study Hymn No. 139 in the Christian Science Hymnal.

I did study this hymn prayerfully, and a great sense of peace came to me. The words of the first verse were very helpful and read as follows:

I walk with Love along the way,
And O, it is a holy day;
No more I suffer cruel fear,
I feel God's presence with me here;
The joy that none can take away
Is mine; I walk with Love today.

I reasoned this first verse out and admitted to myself that I was walking with God and that man cannot be separated from Him. There can be no pain in God's presence.

The pain gradually left me, and in three days I was able to put away a light chair I had been leaning on when I wished to walk about and was able to walk without it. In one week's time I was able to stand up straight and to walk with no sense of pain.

I am so grateful to the practitioners for all they are doing to help us to understand more of God. This healing gave me a greater love for the hymns in our Hymnal and made me more aware that the verses in these hymns are not just poetry but expressions of God's love for His children.—Henry Morris Caldwell, Birmingham, Alabama.
