As the years go by, my gratitude...
As the years go by, my gratitude for my first healing in Christian Science increases. This healing has never ceased to inspire and encourage me in my endeavors to understand God. I had been suffering from tuberculosis for three years and had been told by medical specialists that nothing more could be done for me and that, even if I lived, I would never be able to lead a normal life.
Christian Science had been offered to me twice, but I would have nothing to do with it. Having been brought up very strictly in an orthodox church, I had been taught to believe that it was God's will that I would always be delicate. However, through a kind neighbor who saw my desperate state I was again offered Christian Science. This time I rather unwillingly consented to visit a practitioner, feeling that Science could do me no harm since I had already tried everything else.
I shall never forget that visit. It was a wonderful occasion. After I had talked to her for some time and had told her a long tale of woe, the practitioner very kindly looked at me and said: "But you don't have to be sick. God did not make you sick."
