"Hid with Christ in God"

The Apostle Paul's proclamation (Col. 3:3), "Ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God," is a startling one to many. To some, these words may suggest extinction or at least anonymity. But to the enlightened follower of the Master, Christ Jesus, the pronouncement by the apostle explains the method whereby mankind may obtain freedom from attacks of sickness and sin.

A student of Christian Science was once faced with moral temptation. Analysis of the evil as unreal because not created by God was helpful, but it did not bring him complete relief. But then he studied Paul's statement quoted above and accepted it in the light brought by the study of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

Here he learned that the real man is free from any desire to indulge in evil, because he includes only divinely bestowed spiritual qualities. A knowledge of man as the image and likeness of God, as recorded in the first chapter of Genesis, rebuffs a concept of oneself as subject to evil.
