RADIO PROGRAM No. 149 - What Does Divine Healing Include?

INTERVIEWER: There is an interesting comment on divine healing in Paul Tillich's book "The Eternal Now." He says: "When Jesus asks the disciples to heal and to cast out demons, he does not distinguish between bodily and mental or spiritual diseases. But every page of the Gospels demonstrates that he means all of them and many stories show that he sees their interrelationship, their unity." Many people have the impression that Christian Science places more emphasis on healing of bodily ills than on healing of what might be called mental, or moral ills. Isn't that true?

SPEAKER: Some people may have this impression, but quite the contrary is true. Christian Scientists are followers of Christ Jesus, who emphasized total salvation which includes healing of all manner of sin and of sickness. And Christian Science does the same. Mental and moral ills receive specific attention in our healing work. Divine healing demands a sweeping change in outlives a spiritual regeneration of our thinking.
