Going Home to the Kingdom of Heaven

Home , family, and friends are big factors in one's life and affairs. Where mutual love and respect are present, the relationship of husband and wife is perhaps the most comforting and the most cherished tie in human existence.

The breaking of this bond by the passing of either one of the loving partners brings to the one remaining a trial and experience that may seem unbearable and devastating. The one left on earth may not wish to continue. Like Martin Luther, he may say something like the following: "I am weary of the world, and the world is weary of me; the parting will be easy." However, to the God-trusting and God-loving student of Christian Science the desire to willfully quit this life and follow his loved partner is not the answer, nor is it facing the problem according to the teachings either of Jesus or of Mrs. Eddy.

In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy follows Jesus' teaching and example and shows us that death is not the solution of any problem, but rather it is an enemy to be fought and overcome. Christian Science teaches that in reality there is no death, that it is only an illusion, an unreal production of mortal mind, which is itself unreal.
