At a time of great discouragement...
At a time of great discouragement, due to my general mishandling of my affairs, a friend who had attended a Christian Science Sunday School recommended I have a talk with a mutual friend who was in the public practice of Christian Science.
I shall never forget my first visit to that friend's office or the many that followed, during which I learned something of my real identity and of my relationship to God and to my fellowmen. I clung to Mrs. Eddy's declaration (Science and Health, p. 454): "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way. Right motives give pinions to thought, and strength and freedom to speech and action."
I was sure I had found in Science what I had desired for years. That was over thirty years ago. Within a short time I had given up smoking and social drinking, joined The Mother Church, and had class instruction. I joined a branch church and in one way or another have been helping in the Cause of Christian Science ever since.
